Louis Ellison is an award-winning director with a passion for telling stories that spark the imagination. Over a 15-year career he has produced music videos, short films and documentaries about people, places and subcultures that often lie outside the realms of normal society. His work combines powerful narratives with a rich and poignant aesthetic.
Originally from Brighton, Louis landed his first job at Academy Films in London where he cut his teeth working with iconic directors like Jonathan Glazer on music video and commercials. In 2009 he moved to EMI Music where he made video content for artists including Blur, Emeli Sandé and Kylie Minogue.
Since establishing himself as a freelance director in 2013, Louis has worked on projects all over the world for clients including Nike, MIND, NatWest and Samsung. His films have featured on MTV, 4Music, Channel 4, Vevo, Nowness, Vice and Dazed, shining a spotlight on subjects as wide-ranging as the Chicano subculture in Japan, horse wrestling in northern Spain, and the world’s first LGBTQ rugby team.
